Sept. 20 '08 Mary's Peak Run to the Top Cruise
The host club was DatsunsNW Super Job and thanks ! If you went you had a blast, if you didn't you missed a great time. The weather turned out to be great. Just a little on the chilly side when the wind picked up a little in the late afternoon. Meeting some new people and seeing old friends was great as usual. The 'Auto Cross' up and down The mountain was a super time. We had just one little glitch, with the maps. Ha ha They put us on a gravel/dirt road. A few unfortunate members drove the 8 miles up the mountain to a locked gate! Which you can imagine was not much fun. Sorry Daiman. But thanks to kindness of one of the local residents most of us avoided all but about a half mile of dirt. Roadsters are not fond of dirt roads. LOL Once this was straightened out and we found the correct road it was FUN TIME. The group I was in included 19 cars. Roadsters, 5 10s, and Zs. We had one near Catastrophe on the way to the mountain. One of our Z drivers went Deer hunting! Gladly the only damage to the Z was a bent license plate , the two seat cushions , and the jangled nerves of the driver and the passenger. The deer took a flight in the air and through some bushes and is still running. The Bar-B-Q was first rate and there was more than enough for all. NO we didn't cook the Deer. Ha ha Thank you so much for providing the Bar-B-Q. Also thanks to all that contributed side dishes and desserts. Real good food , all of it. The turn out was again very good, I didn't get an exact count but I estimate about 30 cars. Lots of laughs and much talk of past cruises and future ones. As always catching up with friends both new ones and those we knew. There were a couple of Z drivers that drove some distances to be on the ' Run to the Top' Both driving newly finished '71 240Zs, one came down form Tacoma and the other up from Springfield. Neither were members of either club. Good to have you along. I for one am looking forward to next years Mary's Peak Run to the Top Cruise.
