Past Events: Cruise to the Coast Aug. 22 '09 - Aug 22, 2009

We had super weather for the whole day. Originally, when this cruise was thought of, was to get away from the heat in the valley. But as it turned out the valley cooled nicely, and this caused the coast to clear and we had great clear skies and warm weather all day along the way. One member had to abort and return home as Her 240 started having problems. We missed not having her along. So we ended up with six Zs for the remainder of the day. We traveled over some great roadways and being a Saturday, it was super not to encounter any traffic until we reached the coast. This route allowed us to have about 90 miles of spirited driving with out any traffic until we reached the coast. I counted ony one car and only one motorhome. We made a stop at Ecola St. Park for some sightseeing and pictures, plus it was a good time to stretch our legs. Awesome views of the coast line. We then continued on South to the Tillamook Air Museum. They have some vary rare planes there in this HUGE AND AMAZING hanger. The Blimp hanger is something to see by itself. There was a car show going on also so we took it is as well. We had a good lunch there at the Hanger Cafe also. Along with the festivities they were offering rides in vintage WW-2 planes also. after taking in all the sights, because of the time of day, we decided to return via Hwy 6, the Wilson River Hwy. All total we clocked 240 miles of some good driving and it was most enjoyable at the stops visiting with friends. Gary M
